Steven Paisner

Steven R. Paisner focuses his practice on all aspects of labor and employment law, including collective bargaining negotiations, labor arbitrations, union elections, unfair labor practice proceedings, employment discrimination litigation, employment agreements, FMLA, Title VII, ADA, OSHA and wage and hour issues.

Mr. Paisner has served as lead negotiator in collective bargaining negotiations on behalf of many public and private sector clients. He has conducted dozens of successful union representation elections on behalf of management and has participated in administrative proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board and various state agencies. He also counsels companies on compliance issues, including sexual harassment investigations, plant closures, discipline and terminations.

Before opening Paisner Litvin Hauser, Mr. Paisner was with the Philadelphia law firms of Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling and Pepper Hamilton. He is a cum laude graduate of Temple School of Law, where he was on the Temple Law Review, and holds a masters degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Fels Institute of Government. Mr. Paisner is a former speechwriter for U.S. Senator Arlen Specter and has been involved in several political campaigns.

He is a member of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars.

Robert Litvin

Partner

Robert Litvin focuses his practice on employee benefits law. His practice covers both the tax and nontax aspects of employee benefits law, including qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, executive compensation and stock based compensation arrangements. Mr. Litvin counsels clients on plan design and implementation as well as tax compliance issues. Mr. Litvin also advises employers and plan trustees on the fiduciary aspects of plan administration and investments. Mr. Litvin represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service as well as the Department of Labor with regard to employee benefit matters.

Prior to forming Paisner Litvin Hauser, LLP, Mr. Litvin was a Senior Manager at Deloitte & Touche. He was also with the law Firms of Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis and Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling. Mr. Litvin received his J.D. from Villanova University Law School and his L.L.M. in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.

Mr. Litvin is an adjunct law professor at Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law, where he teaches in the Graduate Tax Program. Mr. Litvin has authored several published articles appearing in various law and HR journals, and he is a co-author of BNA Tax Management Portfolio #389-3rd ("Medical Plans: COBRA, MSAs and Disability").

Diane Apa Hauser

Partner

Ms. Hauser focuses her practice exclusively on labor and employment law. She regularly represents her clients in collective bargaining negotiations, labor arbitrations, proceedings before the NLRB, EEOC, and various state agencies, and in employment litigation matters in state and federal court. She also regularly provides strategic and collaborative counseling to management on labor and employment-related issues. In addition to practicing full-time with Paisner Litvin Hauser, Ms. Hauser served as an Adjunct Professor with the Villanova University School of Law from 2019 through 2022, where she taught Labor Law.

Before joining Paisner Litvin Hauser, Ms. Hauser was Director of Labor Relations and Employment Counsel for Albertsons Eastern Division. Ms. Hauser also served as General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources for sn.com, a start-up technology company. Prior to those in-house roles, Ms. Hauser was an associate in the labor and employment law departments of the law firms Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling and Pepper Hamilton.

Ms. Hauser is a magna cum laude graduate of Villanova School of Law, where she was an associate editor of the Villanova Law Review. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia. Ms. Hauser is a member of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars.

Paul J. Schneider

Senior Counsel

Paul J. Schneider is Senior Counsel to Paisner Litvin Hauser. Mr. Schneider has advised clients on taxation and employee benefit matters for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Paisner Litvin Hauser, Mr. Schneider spent more than 20 years as a partner in the employee benefits practices of Duane Morris LLP and Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP, where he specialized in the areas of employee benefits and tax law, handling a full range of qualified retirement plan, executive compensation, welfare and fringe benefits and related tax matters. He is a Charter Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel and has served as Chairman of the Important Developments Subcommittee of the American Bar Association Tax Section’s Employee Benefits Committee. Mr. Schneider is a member of the Board of Editors of the Journal of Taxation. He was an instructor for several years at the Philadelphia Institute for Employee Benefits Training and more recently was an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate Human Resources Program at Widener University. Mr. Schneider is a graduate of Lehigh University (B.A. summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa), Columbia University School of Law (J.D. cum laude), New York University (LL.M in Taxation), and LaSalle University (M.B.A.). Following his law school graduation, Mr. Schneider served a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Roszel C. Thomsen, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Mr. Schneider frequently writes articles and lectures on tax and employee benefits-related topics, and is co-editor of ERISA: A Comprehensive Guide, 2d Edition (Aspen, 2002).

James Leonard

Associate

James Leonard is an associate with Paisner Litvin Hauser. He focuses his practice on all aspects of labor and employment law, including representing employers in federal and state agency proceedings, state and federal employment litigation, union organizing campaigns and labor arbitrations. James earned a B.A. in public policy studies from Vanderbilt University, cum laude, and a J.D. from New York University. He is a member of the Pennsylvania bar.

Barb Craig is the Firm’s Office Manager and keeps the Firm’s operations running smoothly. Ms. Craig has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Drexel University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University.
